Prophet Abraham (Ibrahim)

Abraham was the first of the prophet who lived and died in Palestine. He is the ancestral father of all the prophets. He was born in the city of Ur in the south of what is now modern Iraq. After Allah delivered him from the persecution of his people he migrated to Harran in northern Syria. From there he moved to the Land of Canaan (Palestine) around 1900 BC.

And We verily gave Abraham of old proper course, and We were Aware of him. When he said unto his father and his folk: What are these images unto which ye pay devotion?...They said: We found our fathers worshippers of them. ....He said : Verily ye and your fathers were in plain error...And, by Allah, I shall circumvent your idols after ye have gone away and turned your backs...They said: Who hath done this to our gods? Surely it must be some evil-doer. They said: We heard a youth make mention of them, who is called Abraham....., They cried: Burn him and stand by your gods, if ye will be doing. We said: O fire, be coolness and peace for Abraham..., And We rescued him and Lot (and brought them) to the Land which We blessed for (all) peoples".(21:51...) Quran.

Abraham was blessed with two sons. Ismail, the elder of the two, was begotten from his wife Hajar. Sarah begot Issac who born thirteen years later. After settling Hajar and their son Ismail in Makkah, Abraham continued to move back and forth between the Makkah and Palestine. Abraham eventually died in Palestine and was buried in al Mikfela cave near Hebron
